Google can not set a cookie , doesn’t see your IP address and won’t know if any two ’scrooglers’ are from the same person

Slashdot | Russia Agrees To Shut Down AllOfMP3.com

Pro-SEO writes, “An official document (PDF), dated November 19, summarizes an agreement between the U.S. and Russia in which Russia has agreed to close down AllofMP3.com, and any sites that ‘permit illegal distribution of music and other copyright works.’ The agreement is posted to the Web site for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. It summarizes the joint efforts of the two countries to fight content piracy, an issue in which Russia and Eastern Europe figure prominently.”

Wordpress Shop - WPShop

Wooo there is much rejoicing is to be done…. The wordpress shop by Richard Brown of cregy.net has just been launched… This just hit my inbox

I have asked that folks give it a good testing. Please email the list
as quickly as possible if there are any problems and I’ll see if I can
sort them.

A word of caution. The developer is going on holiday for a week or so,
so if there are any programming difficulties these might have to wait
for a week. To be honest though I am probably being over-cautious, we
have tested the plugin extensively and it is now working at several
sites.

I will start to list links of sites using the plugin so if you would
like to join the list, email with the url.

Welcome to the downloads page for the WPShop plugin.

This plugin has gone through various upgrades and is now released for testing purposes. Please could you install, check that installation works, configure with a Paypal account, add categories, products and give it a good test run.

The css sheet for those that wish to update and style accordingly is version2.css. I have started to style at several sites so if you need some advice email the mailing list. I am sure others will quickly be able to help as well.

I have dated this page and would be pleased if bugs etc could be reported over the next month so that we can sign the plugin as ready by the 1st January 2007.

Howto - Registering IDN Domains With Fun Japanese Characters

If anyone is wondering how register IDN’s (Internationalized domain names) with fun Japanese characters then I hope this tutorial will help. There are a few steps so it shouldn’t take long 5 - 10 minutes. Hopefully it will save you some time as I spent a while digging around looking for a good registrar.

1. Login or register with a domain registrar - must support IDN’s

Fire up your web browser and head off to your favorite IDN domain registrar. My favourite at present is Dynadot.com, I tried Joker.com and did register one domain with them but there website was quite klunky and really wasn’t a good user experience. I would have recommended my old favourite Freeparking.co.uk but since asking them when ordering IDN’s would be available and getting this response, I decided to find another domain registrar.

Also make sure that your browser is using UTF-8 encoding. It probably will be but its probably best to check.

2. Installing The Japanese Character Set

To get a list of fun Japanese characters for registering Internationalized domain names you first need to install Japanese. You can do so by installing the Japanese character set via the Regional and Language Options in the Control Panel (On windows)

Once Japanese is installed you need to change to that language… this can be done by using Shift+Alt or selecting it in the language bar. Once Japanese is selected you then need to change the language to Hiragana. If you don’t know Japanese the language bar should look like this

To test start wordpad and try typing. If it comes out Japanese you are on to a winner.

3. Registering An International Domain

Login to your domain registrar and go to the international domains section and select the correct language (Japanese in this case). Make sure Hiragana is selected and type the magic word kigou. It should look like this きごう with a red line underneath, if it does press the space bar twice and you should get a drop down list of around 344 different symbols. Not all of them are available to use but a good chunk of them are. A few examples - 5☆.com ★★★.com 回回.com
